Holocaust survivor Elie Weisel once stated that the Holocaust "was a unique crime in the annals of History." Weisel went on to say that "The universal implications of the Holocaust challenge Western civilization and modern, scientific culture. What threatened one people in the past could recur to threaten another people or, indeed, all humanity" At Deep River History Exhibits we believe that teaching the past is crucial so that we do not repeat it. Our Holocaust exhibit teaches this as well as honors the memories of the more than six million Jews who perished.
A Deep River our hope and mission is that the Holocaust Remembrance exhibits will promote thoughtful reflection on the causes, events, and consequences of the Holocaust. To open up discussion of extremist ideologies, hate, antisemitism and what the consequences are when people are indifferent. Exhibit can be shown alone or with the World War 2 exhibit.
Even though April is Holocaust Remembrance Month, it is a history lesson that should be taught throughout the year. .
" How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world. " Anne Frank
" In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." Anne Frank
What was Anne Frank's greatest wish?
In October 1942, 13-year-old Anne dreamed of a career as a film star in Hollywood. Two years later, her greatest wish was to publish a book about her time in hiding.
It is our responsibility to teach what has taken place in the past., whatever that might be. Deep River History Exhibits are available for short term or for long term exhibits.
Exhibits are available for rent at Museums, Universities, Junior Colleges, libraries, elementary schools, churches, libraries or special groups. Call if you have any questions or to make your reservations.
Deep Rivers Holocaust Remembrance exhibit contains dozens of original papers and artifacts as well as the timeline (1919 -1945) The large exhibit will require a space with 6 to 8 eight foot tables as well as a viewing area, more if shown with a WW2 exhibit. An additional space is required for showing historical videos for your group or organizations viewing. If your space is limited a small grouping of artifacts can be requested. Security for artifacts must be provided by your organization.
“Nothing about these times makes any sense. Nothing. Putting it to words only makes it sound too simple.”
― Ralph Webster, A Smile in One Eye: a Tear in the Other
“He cannot forgive himself for having saved himself when his wife and child went to their deaths we are all as if drugged. Yesterday all of my family were living and now - all are dead. Each of us stands as if turn to stone. I weep for my fate, for what I have left to see.”
― Chil Rajchman, The Last Jew of Treblinka
"We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." Elie Weisel
"The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference." Elie Weisel
"There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest." Elie Weisel
